Jenn Friedman, MHC-LP, is a Mental Health Counselor. Ms. Friedman holds a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Goldsmiths University of London where she trained in psychodynamic therapy, and an Advanced Graduate Mental Health Counseling Certificate from the University at Buffalo. She holds a certification in Creative Arts and Health from the New School for Social Research.
Ms. Friedman works with adults of all ages, from young adults to older adults, and of diverse cultures, ethnicities and LBGTQ+ identities. Ms. Friedman works with a range of issues, including relationships, career transitions, eating issues, substance misuse, anxiety and depression, grief and loss. She has specialized training working with dementia patients and their family members and holds a Teepa Snow Dementia Training certification. She has facilitated music, writing, skill-building and discussion groups with a variety of populations. Ms. Friedman is the author of Veganism and Eating Disorder Recovery (Routledge, 2022), which aims to improve the discourse about veganism and non-veganism in eating disorder recovery.
Ms. Friedman's approach is client-centered and informed by psychodynamic and cognitive approaches to psychotherapy. Ms. Friedman engages clients with warmth, encouragement, empathy and curiosity. She provides a safe, nonjudgmental space in which clients may explore present and past challenges and work towards their goals.
