How we work with insurance

We are in-network with Aetna, Anthem, Empire, BlueCross BlueShield, Meritain Health, and The New School for Social Research United Student Insurance.

Not seeing your provider listed? Don’t worry. We accept all major insurance plans and will bill your insurance plan directly. No matter whether you are in network or out of network, you will receive an email from us detailing your benefits plan, including your deductible, co-pay and co-insurance, prior to your first appointment.

We make your life easier because we will handle communicating with your insurance so you don’t have to. And we will keep your out-of-pocket costs to a minimum. Yay!

Answer these 3 questions, and our practice manager will reply within 1 business day with your rates.

What your session will be like

We provide counseling and Psychotherapy to adults, adolescents, couples and families.

  • In treatment, your therapist will first and foremost help you feel comfortable. The client is encouraged to talk as openly as possible. Speaking openly in this nonjudgmental, accepting environment opens the door to change. We discover new things about ourselves. We create narrative. We have new thoughts, which leads to an ability to take new actions. It becomes possible to find relief from repetitive, destructive behaviors and relationship patterns. We can learn how to become more accepting of who we are and find relief from inner turmoil. We are able to create productive, creative ways of being in the world that are true to who we are.

Our therapists are skilled in various modalities of treatment, including: Cognitive Behavioral, Dialectical, Mindfulness, Humanistic, Interpersonal, Psychodynamic, Psychoanalytic and Trauma Theory. Our range of training enables us to tailor our approach to the specific needs of the person we are working with, based on the individual’s goals.

  • In relationships it is often challenging to find ways to meet the needs of both members of a couple. Communication can easily become reactive and contentious. Alternately, some individuals shut down or withdraw when confronted with emotional pain and disappointment.

Many aspects of couple life may go awry or be riddled with conflict, such as money, sex and parenting. The work of the couple is to sort through the conflicts whilst working on changing harmful patterns of relating and communicating. Space is created so both members of the couple can express themselves and be heard by each other. Working through feelings of frustration, disappointment, betrayal, anger and hurt can open the door to renewed feelings of love and longing. Learning to find forgiveness and to express love and affection, allows the couple to thrive again.

  • In childhood and adolescence, many developmental milestones are encountered. These can often be challenging to the child and adolescent. Various life stressors, transitions, and the ordinary challenges of the young person’s social and emotional life, may manifest in the youngster as various mental health symptoms.

In individual work with children and adolescents, we create a safe space for our young clients, and support the youngster in working through the challenges the client is encountering. Depending on the age and needs of the child or adolescent, the therapist will meet periodically with parents and caretakers. Our goal is to assist parents and caretakers on how to best support the child or adolescent client, as well as to assist parents and caretakers in managing their own concerns regarding the client’s needs.

Family therapy is an effective therapeutic intervention at any stage of the family, including families with adolescents or adult children. Through family therapy, communication is addressed with the goal of creating mutually respectful relationships for all involved. We strive to help the family create a well balanced family system in which all are heard and feelings are processed. We facilitate a process in which clients may discover and create workable solutions to day to day problems and conflicts. We assist in working through dynamics of relationships and improving communication, whether they are between parents and children, siblings, extended families and blended families. The Family therapy treatment modality is also available to other adult relationships and groups, such as friends, business partners and other important adult relationships.
