Allison Toussant, MHC-LP, earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Winthrop University and her master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Brooklyn College. Her post-graduate training includes crisis intervention, suicide prevention, and treatment of severe mental illness.
Ms. Toussant’s professional experience includes working in non-profit organizations, university counseling centers, and correctional settings. She has experience helping clients with anxiety, depression, trauma, substance misuse, major life transitions, as well as cultural and gender identity, grief, and maintaining healthy relationships.
Ms. Toussant works with BIPOC, LGBTQ+, women, couples, and families, incorporating cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, and psychodynamic methods of treatment. She encourages clients to approach therapy with an open mind and a willingness to explore with honesty and compassion for oneself. Ms. Toussant’s approach is client-centered, collaborative and eclectic, while encouraging client autonomy, confidence, and self-assuredness.
